It was as if you and I had been caught
on a flashing, thunder-embroiled plain,
we were both part of the many souls lost–
in the sweltering heat and slashing rain.
Yet, you found me desperate and distraught,
my fragile heart bare to your healing hands.
The darkest chasms, together, we crossed–
the tempests and the floods–few could withstand.
Still, amongst those souls upended and tossed,
with the wasteland surrounding us raging,
we have stood together, blending the costs–
of living, raising, guiding, and aging.
With strength of love, we faced the cracking storm;
through love, we remained one, restored, reborn.
